Ordos Museum - MAD Architects

While researching for my exhibition at college on different designers and architects i came across the Ordos Museum that i had seen before but not looked into it properly. I am so glad I have as this is an incredible building!

The fact that it sits in the Gobi Desert by itself creates a massive impact on the audience as it is so big compared to them, its a true spectacle. The second thing is that of its shape, its such a peculiar building with curves and dips with vivid black lines going all the way round emphasisng the curves and dints. There are no windows except for the front doors and some on the roof.

Inside the rooms are completely different from each other, some rooms are completely wide open spaces with nothing on the walls and just the light coming in from the roof creating reflections and patterns on the wall and other rooms (the main section) looks very futuristic with white curved walls and black elevated stairs coming out of them crossing from point to point.

Mad Architects have really created something special, and in some way bizarre.
I found this video showing the architecture at its best on a website, http://www.whudat.de/ordos-museum-in-china-7-pictures/

take a look.
