Paul Klee
He was a German
and Swiss painter. and was influence by expressionism, cubism, and surrealism.
i really like the shapes of the paintings that he created. the artwork on the
left i can see that cubism was incorporated as the shapes work on top of each
other, this makes it more interesting for the audience to look at as there's something different to see every where you look. he has used different tones of
brown to also create a dramatic look in the painting as it creates shadow
making shapes look more 3D.
i cant see much of
a meaning in his paintings though and i prefer art with a purpose or a message
to tell.
Marianne
Brant
She worked in the metal works and designed teapots, ashtrays (as below) and other household
objects.
i love the shape
of the teapot as the lines and shapes have really been emphasized to create an
interesting object. its unusual so it impacts the audience more. however in my
opinion it still looks old fashioned compared to what we have today and I
prefer modern contemporary art and design.
Her designs though
can be seen as simple shapes with not much detail to them and in the Bauhaus
era they were very popular, this proves that design can be effective even with
out all fancy detail and pattern.
He was a swiss architect, artist, painter, typeface designer, industrial designer and graphic designer.
his work is characterized by a clarity of design and precise proportions
he sought to create objects so that the new science of form could be understood by the senses. his work had hidden meanings.
his work to me is a bit random and even if he was trying to show something he didn't really put anything across, or i cant really see a specific meaning.
the shapes are very specific too, i would like to meet him and ask why did you use those shapes? why did you connect the colours like that?
