Matthew Williamson
Matthew Williamson is an English Fashion Designer and has worked with many celebrities Now has ranges in H&M and Debenhams.
His work is usually very colourful, bold bright colours to catch someones attention and usually bright, this to me creates a very happy outfit that you would wear on a summers day or a cocktail party.
he has alot of prints as well incorporated on his designs, different shapes and different colours, they almost look a little abstract but i think this makes his garments look alot more interesting making the clothes look like they have texture to them. different light and dark parts to a garment make them look more interesting to look at as well, and catch someones attention.
some of his work is a little out there for me but some of his work i would definitely consider wearing.
Clare Nicolson
Clare Nicolson is a Textiles Designer and is known for her home furnishings. I have concentrated on her cushion designs.
She uses a very soft palette of colours maybe using one or two bright colours to brighten up the design but mainly pastel or soft colours. i think this makes her cushions have a very homely feel to them, it makes me think of being snuggled up in front of a fire.
She puts patterns on top of each other that contrast each other but they don't look odd. they go well together and make the whole composition look alot more fun to look at.
she uses symmetry and duplicates images to create different compositions too. but uses very simple drawings of animals such as elephants and birds so the designs don't get too complicated.
i really like some of her designs and i would love for them to be part of my house some day. the designs she creates remind me of a happy simplistic home to just forget all your worries in.
Basso and Brookes
Basso and Brookes is a fashion label formed by Bruno Basso and Christian Brookes.the label is largely known for its digital print technique
'the masters of fantastical digital print'
it is very high end fashion as you wouldn't see some of their work on the high street however shops like topshop and incorporate the prints into their own designs.
there work is solely focused on the prints, this makes them stand out to the crowd, they certainly have the wow factor.
they use very bright colours which attract the audiences eye, and add lots of different patterns together so its just a big explosion of prints whether they look nice together or not they are put together. the colours contrast against each other that makes parts of the garments stand out against each other.
these fashion pieces are the definition of fun, and remind me of a dress that you would wear to a party not necessarily the office. i love the fun side of it though, it shows that art is full of imagination and isn't boring like other jobs.
