I had never really done Textiles before I did the Specialism at College , I have always done Fine art but i was interested to learn what it was all about. When i thought about Textiles i thought of Fabric and stitching and putting patterns together for clothing.
Now in a way that is exactly what textiles is but its not necessarily for clothes, it can be for home design, cushions carpets and wallpapers, a swell as the fashion industry, it can be there for an interior decorating career, textiles design career or fashion designer career,
Also the ideas behind a textile Design are alot more extensive then you may think, there are many ways to stitch a piece of thread , which material works best with which material and what colours and composition to create.
i enjoyed learning about how stitch works and how you can add materials on top of each other to create another material. textiles is not just fabric, its paper and plastic bags and wool aswell.
i hope to use more texture in my work in my specialist area or even consider it in my work as i am very interested in Interior design and the Decorating side of spaces.
